The Good Friday Agreement, which ended so many years of violence & suffering, was due to the efforts of many, especially 🇪🇺
Due to Brexit, NI has left the Union. The deceit of some about it's consequences can't be allowed to endanger the peace that must prevail.

Due to Brexit, Northern Ireland has left the European Union. The deceit of some about its consequences can't be allowed to endanger the peace that must prevail.

Inevitable consequence of Brexit I’m afraid. They were warned, but told us it was “Project Fear”. Very sad. I can’t see how it’s going to be resolved.
One of these young boys or a police officer is going to die. I knew something like that this would happen and this was one of the reasons I voted remain. It is devastating. And an absolute mess.
A very sad consequence that nobody wanted. And unfortunately there is no solution to satisfy all citizens of northern Ireland.
Utter lack of foresight from DUP to advocate for Brexit even after the majority in NI comprehensively voted to remain in EU. Now they don't like the consequences flowing directly from their actions, they once again play the grand old duke of York with their disillusioned community. Totally bankrupt of integrity.
London has no interest in keeping the GFA. Brexshit and national power supersede all else. They will spill Irish blood if it means driving away the EU from N. Ireland. Loyalists emboldened, enabled and encouraged are their agent provocateurs. The EU and the US will have to force the Brexitland Tories in line.
This calls for the EU and the USA to work together and force the British government into a humiliating position.
Unionists are furious. As a reminder because of the GFA 20 years of peace are precious. Did the rabid brexiteers give a thought about the border Irish well documented in history. Did they understand how diplomacy was needed rather than breaking international law. Did they give attention to the past history of border Irish who escaped like refugees to the mainland. The brexiteers and the protagonists of the unholy mess related to borders down the Irish Sea need to show humility and integrity and use cross party intelligence rather than blaming someone.... Anyone else But not themselves.
At least some of us spoiled our vote on the Liberal Democrats to vote "no" to all this. It was the reight thing to do. It made sense. All the "really hate brexit" politicians and professional pundits, who all don't know what the spoiler effect is in perfect harmony, (despite politics being their chosen profession), all told us we needed nothing more than a vote for "No Breixt" and sunny disposition and a vote for the spoiler effect was the right way to go. But, unlike their sharp suits, why doesn't it feel like success?
No wonder. Many people knows that problem will appear very soon after brexit. EU gives to those people the feelings of ONE IRLEAND. Now bad feelings back again. Stupid decisions means many deaths.
The only answer that always could and still can solve this impossible impasse (apart from EU membership) is membership of the customs union. Overnight - problem solved, no more stupidity at the ports and damage to industry on both sides, and brexiters can still say that they have left the EU and cherish their blue passports.
I guess there would be zero conflict when the entire Irish island would be governed by Dublin.
These are teenagers chucking missiles and starting fires ... when they talk to them they don't have a clue about Brexit, but what they do see are other things where they feel the Republicans are winning ... that is what they are fighting because they are young, naive and are being mislead. NI has a history that you need to understand, Brexit is part of that but it is very far from all of it. If the GFA was truly as effective as said why do they still need the "peace gates" and why does the NI Police Service still have armoured Land Rovers as standard kit? Why was the Stormont Assembly suspended for 3yrs? The GFA whilst a start sadly hasn't been the absolute success our politicians would have us believe. There is still a lot of partisan politics ☹️
So sad, Westminster doesn't care about treaties etc.
the main problem is remoaners dont want a solution they just want to change the brexit result and that cant and wont ever happen. so pull yourselves together and take it on the chin you lost get over it.
Couldn't agree more. Brexit was a deception and NI peace its highest price. A failing economy another..and 66m people robbed of civil rights and FOM. This can not be allowed ..the EU needs to carefully consider how best to help restore peace in NI ..and call out those who deceived us so badly, so they are held to account. This is unacceptable
It was always going to be the consequence of Brexit and can be laid directly at the feet of our liar in chief -Buffoon Johnson.
'The GFA was due to the efforts of many, especially the eu!) really ???? What part did the eu play in the GFA ?
In no way was the GFA "especially" due to the efforts of Europe. In 20+ years of historical and political science literature no one has seriously defended that argument. Minor player at best.
I think the general problem here is the EU implementing full S P S checks on the border when we're supposed to have a free trade deal and mutual recognition of standards as the Ireland foreign minister said the other day the EU needs to compromise why for instance does the EU grant vet health visas for new Zealand a country it doesn't have a trade deal with but not us even though we've been in the same trade deal for the past 40 years
Lets also ignore the fact of thousands in attendance at service for an EX veteran PIRA figure Bobby Storey in west Belfast. That clearly broke covid guidance on mass. Many people are lashing back at the fact no prosecutions have taken place and MPs in attendance of not step down. Meanwhile people across NI have be prosecuted for less.
The EU knew zero about the Good Friday Agreement until it was brought to its attention for use as a negotiation tool. The EU could not care less about Northern Ireland nor across the border in the ROI. Minions to the slaughter. Shameful!
Look at the men standing in the background egging the teenagers forward. Paid off later with wads of money in the backstreets. The Westminster men in grey suits at work again reawakening old mates.
This about the Northern Ireland Protocol which should be scrapped. This is about the EU not fully complying with the NI protocol. The Protocol is not fit for purpose and goes against the Good Friday Agreement. This is the problem
The only way ghe GFA could survive was for the UK to stay in the EU. Let's just forget the Brexit nonsense and beg to be let back into the EU on whatever terms they are prepared to offer us.
Such an evolution was mentioned more than 5 years ago, even before the Brexit referendum proper, as a possible consequence of Brexit if this occurs. It is not my business to solve the issue, I have just recalled this detail.
Today we commemorate the #Rwanda genocide in which the Tutsi people and so many moderate Hutu’s were murdered #Kwibuka27.
This tragedy changed my live and my political views forever.
A time to remember the hatred of racism and extremism and the risks of a cowardly international community #NeverAgain ! ...
Good to see that so many citizens in Turkey are courageously defending human rights over Erdogan dictates !
#IstanbulConvention #RuleOfLaw ...
When people are being bullied for who they are... push back !
The whole #EU is declared an #LGBTIQFreedomZone !
Because EU freedoms are rights, not gifts, and no one can take them away from you. ...
What’s your favorite bridge in Europe? 🌉🇪🇺
Did you know that the #bridges on our euro banknotes are fictional? But would it not be far better that the @europeancentralbank replaces these fictional bridges with real monuments and artefacts of #Europe and European culture? As I proposed already years ago in a book “For Europe” together with Dany Cohn Bendit, the Ponte Vecchio in Firenze or even the Tower Bridge in London are not only Italian or British, but also common European heritage. Hereby my personal choice of real bridges for the next generation of euro banknotes:
Ponte Vecchio (Firenze 🇮🇹 )
Pont du Gard (Uzès-Nîmes 🇫🇷 )
Öresund (Sweden🇸🇪 - Denmark🇩🇰)
Karlův Most (Praha 🇨🇿 )
Stari Most (Mostar 🇧🇦 )
Koningshavenbrug (Rotterdam 🇳🇱)
