FT calls Guy Verhofstadt the European Parliament’s canniest and most sharp-tongued politician

Ahead of May’s European election, the Financial Times has listed 25 political figures to watch during and after the election.

In an interactive graphic, the FT has listed 25 political politicans to keep an eye on during and after the elections.

They are selected in an unsystematic way, but aim to give a flavour of the new parliament: its old guard and budding stars, its power brokers and iconoclasts, its federalist core and political fringe.

On Guy Verhofstadt they write :

Guy Verhofstadt, 61, leads Europe’s liberal parties, the Alde grouping, and has a reputation as one of the European Parliament’s canniest and most sharp-tongued politicians. A determined federalist, he is a regular sparring partner of Nigel Farage, the British eurosceptic.
